Agnes Fall, Colorado
The day before we left Colorado, we climbed up to Agnes Falls. Yum! (click on photos to enlarge)
Hubby, Little Girl and Little Man climbed all the way up. I had to stay down below to take photos, right?A little moth decided to perch on our heads…
What a view!
Happy travels to all of you--Teresa
Horse back riding in Colorado…
One afternoon in Colorado the kids desperately wanted to ride horses. They think this is something we need to do every vacation. Just don't let them know that we have horses here in Tennessee, it would turn out to be very expensive! This is the first time that Hubby and I let them go without parental supervision. (Read, I did not want to go. I am always last in line with the slowest horse that only wants to eat.) They had a great time.
Look at that sky…The highlight of horseback riding may have been the baby animals at the farm, like the donkey that was less than 2 days old…awwwwww…
But it was the 7 kittens that captured the most attention…
I mean c'mon, how adorable is this…Little Girl was beside herself with joy, the kitties were at the perfect age…
The kids worked hard to round them all up for this photo…
I hope you are having fun with your little ones, furry or not! Teresa
St. Elmo, CO
Population: 3 Yes, you read that correctly. St. Elmo is a ghost town and completely and utterly charming. It doesn't look like much, but we had a blast! And, I pretty much had the St. Elmo's Fire Theme Song playing in my head the entire time. I was rockin' out! (click on photos to enlarge)
This was a photo in one of the deserted windows, it reads:
Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten,
---Cree Indian Prophecy
Many license plates nailed to a wall. I'm thinking of sending Tennessee to them, they didn't have one!
Here is the best part. For 50 cents you can get sunflower seeds to feed to the chipmunks, squirrels and ground hogs. The kids LOVED it! They were adorable! The kids and the animals…
Outside the general store were several hummingbird feeders. Love it!
The general store…
We stopped at a nice spot along the river for a picnic lunch. Little did we know that it was mosquito infested. We ate quickly…
More tomorrow! Teresa

Finally…Colorado…
Great Sand Dunes National Park was truly breathtaking. We all loved it. I mean, who wouldn't love one HUGE beach?
We climbed a few of the dunes, some were 750 feet tall. We did not climb those. Way too hot for that.
The kids tried to slide down them on cardboard. Little Man even tried to run and jump. He didn't make it very far. It made us feel better that even the people that brought sleds were not having any luck either…
The sheer beauty is amazing. I can't believe these huge desert like dunes are just sitting in the middle of Colorado. I would have never believed it had I not seen it…After the dunes and lunch we hiked up to Zapata Falls…
Lovely!
Family photo…
Walking back out from the falls…
The site on our drive out. Just beautiful country!
It's dry here though, we are keeping lots of lotion handy! Teresa
PS--I will post more in the coming days about Colorado. The internet at the last hotel we were at was in and out. ugh.
Still More Colorado…
No, no Colorado today. So sad. I can't get the internet at the hotel we are staying at to upload the photos to the post. I will post them as soon as I can. We went back to Great Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls and now we are at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort. Delightful warm pools! Teresa
More Colorado…
The family reunion is over and now we are exploring other parts of Colorado. What a beautiful state! Yeeeee! We spent some quality family time in the car on the way to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Have you been there? If not, put it on your bucket list. It is gorgeous!
We went on a little hike. I have a crush on Aspen Trees. Their leaves dance in the wind. Their trunks are so smooth and such a lovely color…
We could see the dunes from afar on our hike…
We went in for a closer look. The sand was REALLY hot in the late afternoon so we are going to go back tomorrow morning & bring some cardboard in hopes of sledding. I'll post how it goes…
The summer is going so fast…
in a blink it will be behind us! Teresa

At the family reunion in Colorado…
I am in Colorado. At the VanHatten Family Reunion. It is a tri-annual event. We are enjoying the sites, playing cards and cramming 3 years of socializing into 4 days. Ah, family!
Yesterday we went to Garden of the Gods. SO amazing! Go Mother Earth on that one! Check out more photos on Google…
Then to Pike's Peak…
Yum…
Today we went white water rafting, no photos, I don't have a waterproof camera (sigh). When we got back it was time for the family photo, family meeting and giving out the bags and Bagette Dad and I brought for everyone. There are 72 here in the box…
Everyone liked them…
See, I even make my family do JAZZ HANDS!
I hope you are enjoying your summer with family and friends too! Teresa
