Let's talk Christmas…

Yes, I know, we are not even through Thanksgiving yet but this is important. We all need to start making fabric Christmas bags to use to wrap gifts in before it's too late! Seriously. Are you still using wrapping paper? Then this is the year to go fabric. C'mon people! Fabric bags make gift wrapping SUPER easy and they can be reused from year to year to year to year

I made some bags for my church for wrapping gifts for needy kids. I didn't have any fabric on hand (I already used what I had for a future freebie) so I went and bought some. I had a Joann's coupon for 25% off my total purchase including sale items. Aaaaand, the Christmas fabric was 50% off. YAY! I bought 11+ yards of fabric including the blue penguin remnant piece that was only $1.

I was able to make 23 bags using the shopping bag pattern

And, one really big bag to wrap one of the presents for church…
Here is the stack that will be donated along with the gifts…
It only cost me $1.74/bag. This is a bargain compared to tape, ribbon, and wrapping paper. Oh, and, did I mention that they can be used over and over again? I challenge you, make some Christmas bags, send me photos of what you make and I'll post them here! Teresa

  3. Very nice Teresa, I've been doing the same, I donated 20 bags to the church this week. Then I went around to the thrift stores and for $10.00 I can make another 10 bags. I've noticed people disgard christmas tablecloths; and they make awesome cloth bags! I met my goal once again at $1.00 per bag :)
    Cheer's!

  4. Yes, I like the bag with penguins too! I almost didn't get that fabric because it was flannel but it works just fine.
