Crested Butte, CO
Little chapel at the cemetery in Crested Butte, CO

I heart bees.

Whoa.

My favorite kind of cake.

I need to make this.

Cute idea.

Natural egg dye + here too.

To do with fabric scraps.

Since we spent the week in Crested Butte, I'm looking forward to being home this weekend. I hope to get some sewing done and get the girls settled in the redone bath. What are you up to? Hugs, see you on Monday! Teresa

Workday Wednesday

We are on a little spring break trip to Crested Butte. It is beautiful here. YAY! I'll share some photos soon. While we are gone we are getting one of our baths redone (before and after pics in the near future) and my cousin is house sitting. Win win!

I'm doing some hand stitching this week. I was a huge dork and organized my embroidery thread…
I did some embroidery for TWO different babies with the same name. Weird, huh? I had to double check to make sure I wasn't making it up, since the name is so unusual. One is for a friend of mine and one is for a friend of my sister. I'll finish these up when I get home. They will be sewn on a towel set and a burp cloth.
Remember this idea I posted on Photo Finish Friday a couple of weeks ago? This is my first attempt at it. Fun to make!
And, this is the one that Little Man is making…
He's doing a good job. How about you? What are you up to this week? Teresa

Sewing with Fabric Samples

Even though there is more work involved, I enjoy sewing with fabric samples. The bags made from samples take more time because each sample needs to be cut individually and then matched with another sample to form a bag. Sometimes, samples happen to be 18 inches square. These are awesome to work with for obvious reasons (the bag pattern calls for 18 inch pieces). However, most of the samples we get are 24 inches square.
The following diagram shows how I cut those samples. I get one side of a bag and 4 handles out of each piece…
As you can see, some of the bags have longer handles from the 24 inch pieces. This is great because some people like a bag with a bit longer handle. We only give these bags away at events as they are far too heavy/expensive to ship. Aren't they pretty though? Nice and sturdy too!
I liked some of these so much that I numbered them and have them in the back of my car to give out. I keep meaning to have a supply in my car…
now I do! Grab some fabric samples and start sewing! Many home decor places will give them to you for free. Let me know if you make some. Teresa

PS, I'm not sure if this is the same little guy or brothers but they sure are cute! Thanks for the photos Rachael! Teresa

Workday Wednesday

I have been busy as of late. It is SO great to feel better. I just want to make stuff all the time! I started out the week sewing bags and moved on to other projects. Little Girl is a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. I had the idea to make a pillow with the title of this song on it.
Looks pretty cute on her bed! She loves it. :) (quilt at the bottom of bed is HERE)
And, a couple more pouches were made. This one to try out faux leather. It worked well, no problems.
 A little camo surprise inside…
This one is for Big Girl. She picked out the dream catcher fabric when I dragged her to Joann's today. I came home and whipped it out for her. She was impressed that it only took 20 min. She plans to use it for pens and pencils.
Cute pink dot inside…
I also wrapped up another future freebie to hand off to Bagette Dad when he visits at the beginning of April. YAY!
A package of labels came in the mail. Just in time as we were beginning to run low. Bagette Dad will be happy that there is more space in between each label. We need the space for bigger numbers!
Whew! I did some hemming and mending too, but that's boring. What about you? What have you accomplished this week? I'd love to see! Hugs--Teresa

Entry Redo with FLOR

I have been really struggling with the entry to my house from the garage door. It's ALWAYS a mess. The kids (and hubby) come in the door and simply drop everything. ARG! I finally found a bench that fit the space, but the rug was a different story. For a while I had 2 small rugs but they kept moving around and slipping. I ordered the brown one you see below on line but it kept curling on the edges (tripping) and was too small. By the way, it is impossible to buy a rug that is 5' x 6' which is the size I needed. All of them are either 5X7 or 4X6.

Then, I remembered about FLOR squares. I could buy as many as I wanted  and cut them if necessary. Score!
I went to the FLOR site and poked around. I needed 13 squares and was not willing to pay $22/square. Just as I was about to click off, I saw the FLOR Outlet link. Many of the squares are $5-8. YAY! I took a gamble and ordered 15 of the Kevin in Teal. Since they were only $5, I added a few extra for future spills and wear and tear.

Doesn't it look great??
I had to cut one of the tiles to accommodate the vent but it was super easy. I simply used a pair of heavy duty scissors and a ruler.
I am so happy with how it looks. The size is perfect and it is meant for heavy traffic which this area gets. The whole thing took me 20 minutes to install including cutting. I'll let you know how it holds up, but I have high hopes! Teresa

HILARIOUS App. But useful!

Alrighty then, what are your plans for the weekend? We have a friend of Little Man staying with us so there should be movies, popcorn and general boy stuff in the works. How about you? Teresa

Workday Wednesday

This week has been kind of crazy. I have been doing some sewing, but we are remodeling one of our bathrooms (that is really gross) so that has been taking up a good bit of time. I'm waiting on the tile to buy grout and some other things. Hoping it will come soon!

I did manage to make a couple of sweet bags for my nieces. Complete with pockets on the front!
And sew some bags. Left are sewn, right are patiently waiting…
And buzzed some handles through the serger…
What about you? Make anything fun lately? Do tell or send me a link, I'd love to see! Teresa

PS--TODAY marks 2 months from surgery and I will GREAT!
