Green Bag Lady Army: LET'S SEW FACE MASKS!

Hospitals and compromised individuals are in need of face masks right now. I'm personally going to sew some and offer them for free on my neighborhood Facebook page. Hoping they will be useful to medical care professionals, etc. The following is a super simple tutorial that I made from looking at several other tutorials on line. There are so many DYIs out there if you don't like mine.

I am personally going to be making mine out of Harmony Art organic cotton since people will be breathing through them. But, whatever fabric you have on hand would be awesome! :) I'm using quilting cotton weight.

EDIT: Just read that these need to be 4 layers of fabric. NO PROBLEM. Just use 2 pieces of 9x15 inch fabric.

This will take you about 10 min once you have it cut out. Super easy. Not that much different from making a bag. Go people, make what you can! :) Teresa

If you need another roll of Graceland - organic cotton muslin - for this cause, just ask and I'll get one shipped to you. Or if a chapter of Green Bag Lady USA has enough sewers to warrant a roll I can send fabric to them as well. No charge.

Thanks for the tutorial! I had started researching patterns on Monday and now this idea has exploded - so fantastic!! :)

I'm going through my Harmony Art fabric stash to see what gems I might have that can be used.

If anyone would like to coordinate, I'm game! I'm up in Washington state on a small island and have already reached out to volunteer to sew masks for my local hospital (if/when needed) but am open to help whoever needs it.

This is wonderful. Thank you. My mother in law needs one now to be able to move around the retirement home, and there are none in the stores. Thank you.

What about making ties instead of elastic? Fitting different heads would be better.
Also, everything has to be washable and have the ability to be sterilized. Making these take time and it's a wonderful thing to do - just want that time to be fruitful

Do you sell these? I'm badly in need of a couple. There doesn't seem to be a mask to be had in Columbus, Ohio, and I'm hopeless and helpless when it comes to sewing.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing an article . Medical bags for doctors should be large enough so they can keep their essentials their.
