Thanks to my mom, I have been using cloth bags for years and I love them! Even if they weren't better for the environment, I would still use them because they are far superior in quality. One Christmas about 10 years ago my mom was cleaning out her fabric bin and made gift bags for every one of her gifts. She used a simple drawstring of shoelaces or hemp. Those bags are still showing up at out family parties and we fight over who gets to take them home! If you get tired of making shopping bags, maybe you can try this sometime.

Thanks for the great bag! The girls I baby-sit for LOVED theirs and all day they kept coming up with new ways to use them. We took them to Target on Sunday and they were so proud to use them! I think you converted 2 more....

I live near Shelby Bottoms. Please let me know if you need any help in July. I would happy to even sit in the background and cut out patterns for an hour or 2.

I LOVE my bag!
I just received it today and I shrieked with delight! It is wonderful and I have sent out emails to all of my friends and family asking them to start having "make a bag" parties!

Wonderful!

Hey Teresa, I just found a ton of thin silvery fabric. Do you want it? (from Brenna at the Parthenon)

I just wanted to let you know how great you are! My husband and I made a resolution to use our own bags (some cloth, some recycled plastic) and we feel it's a noble cause. If I could find some time with my sewing machine (I have two young children!) I'd be joining you. How cool that you gave away so many. Cheers to you! :)

Thanks for the comment. I hope you find some time to get that sewing machine out! It's really fun and a satisfying project!

Darn it, I have to work tomorrow, but if I am done early, I will swing by. I wonder, if I could get a group of ladies together, would you be willing to let us use your sewing machines as a 1 time project, possibly with a quick lesson, to do a big bag sew? It would be great fun to create our own to hnd out, but I gave my macine away when I moved down from Boston. It could be a good service project for alumni groups, scouts etc., and give you a break from sewing.

Katie--

Sorry, I was on vacation. The machines are at individual houses and not all in one spot so a big sew would not work. I have 9 people helping me now though so all is humming along!
