NEW FREEBIE! LEAVE A COMMENT!

In honor of going over 2000, we here at Green Bag Lady corporate have decided to do another freebie!

I have been making these produce bags for my bagettes and now I would like to share some with you! They are great for apples, oranges, bananas, beans, etc. Also, they replace those YUCKY PLASTIC produce bags provided by the grocery. And, they are much cuter! Yay, even LESS plastic bags!

Leave a comment at this post and "Queen Bagette April" will pick 5 lucky posters to receive 2 of these cute produce bags in the mail. Make sure you leave your email address so April knows how to contact you and get your snail mail address!

DO NOT EMAIL ME. I am not doing the picking, April will choose the winners from your COMMENTS. :) Thanks!

If you would like to buy some produce bags to reduce your use of plastic, go here or here.

Happy posting! Teresa

P.S. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at midnight CST will end the posts for the produce bags , any posts after that are welcome but will not be considered for the FREEBIE!

P.P.S. Have no fear, I will post a produce bag pattern as soon as I can! Maybe during fall break! They are so very easy.

I just read about your project in Plenty magazine and am bewildered that I didn't think of this myself when I was fishing for ways to replace plastic bags at the farmers' market I manage. But isn't that how it is, the simple and obvious ideas are the million dollar ideas that make you wonder that no one thought of it sooner!

What a great idea! I am learning to be more "green". My email is queensdap@centurytel.net. Thanks so much.

I have been following your blog for months now, but have been using cloth/canvas bags for a while longer.

Funny thing. So many people still do not get it. You tell them you have your own bags and viola, the stupid look comes to their face. Thee only place I do not get that look is my produce stand.

To Teresa, I think you're amazing for creating such a movement and being such an activist. I'm in my first year of Pharmacy school and trying to make a difference in the world that way, but I am really impressed and inspired with the way you've affected so many people. Kudos to you and your amazing team, and hooray for the rest of us for being a part of it. :)

I too am making bags and thanks to your posting on Harmony Art, I bought some of her fabric also. I'd also like to second "a blogger's" comment. Could we have the pattern to that!

Thanks from Julia

What an awesome idea! Last night when I went shopping for produce at a small market near my house. I had a GIANT "envirosac" jam packed with fruits and veggies. The checker asked me twice if I wanted to put my cilantro and green onions in a plastic bag because they were "wet." I said, "No, I do not want any plastic bags." Is water really a big deal? She just didn't understand my motive. I would LOVE some of your beautiful cloth produce bags! I would use them with a smile!

Spotted you in Positively Green magazine and love what you're doing! And oh my word I've got plenty of fabric shards I should send you. The produce bags are brilliant, and would give the little things that get squished in the cavernous canvas bag a chance at making it out alive (and in style). :-)

Haha! I've snuck in under the October 8 deadline, so now I expect a fruit bag! Somehow that just sounds dirty... fruit bag, hahaha!

Glad to see you're still sewing bags, but have ceased to take orders for the time being. I was worried your fingers may fall off. I still use my bag often, at my neighborhood Dillons (Kansas Kroger) and the Co-op down the street. They of course love it. Hope to see you sometime soon, keep sewing with your bagette bad self.

Armon - you know the email.

I just learned about this site in a magazine. What a fantastic thing you are doing. My mom has been using her own handmade bags for years and I've recently joined in doing my part for the earth by also using reusable bags. I never leave home without one. But, a reuseable produce bag? Genius!! Wish I would have thought of that!!!

I've got another Nashville Green link for you:

http://planettrash.wordpress.com/

It's hosted by a Bellevue woman who documents the victory of environmentally sound practices and the local agony of littering/plastic consumption. Her pictures of litter around the area are profound.

God Bless you for your inspiration to shop with material bags. I printed your bag pattern and although not the greatest of sewers will attempt to conquer and once learned, then I know I can make more for others. I pray God's Blessings on you for all you give as you can never outgive God who sees it all....Have a Blessed Day...

What a clever idea. Such cute designs.

I wish I were so talented at sewing.

My big thing is crochet. Have not tried to crochet such a bag before. Might try.

Thanks for the lovely pics. Have enjoyed reading your blog.
