Hendrik Kerstens

I am now completely intrigued by artist Hendrik Kerstens because of this photo:
A little about the image:

In his portraits, Hendrik Kerstens's model, daughter Paula, is always depicted as austere and serene, illuminated with a characteristically Dutch light that Vermeer was able to capture so subtly. Kerstens's Bag was conceived in New York, where he noticed the excessive about of plastic bags given away in shops. As a humorous reaction to this environmental problem, he photographed a plastic bag in the style of a seventeenth-century cap.

Thank you to my friend Ling Yen for sending it my way! Teresa

I remember seeing this in the National Portrait Gallery, London. Fascinating huh? I didn't even realise it was a bag until I read the description :)
