Dear Mom. . .

Dear Mom,

I have been thinking about you a lot lately. It always happens at this time of year. The fact that you adored Christmas is as gross an understatement as saying that you baked cookies. Every year, beginning now, you would commence the process of 12 dozen of 12 different types of sweets. Yes, you read that correctly. 1,728 pieces of delectable goodness in all. Give or take. You would then proceed to give them to every lucky person in your crumb littered path. My friends still talk about them.

This all happened in conjunction with decorating, shopping, wrapping, sewing, card making, letter writing and general merry making.

You made it all look easy, and perfect. You made everyone happy. You brought us all together. Your love was blatantly unconditional, especially for your 10 grandchildren.

If I could have you back for just one day a year. Just one. It would be Christmas Eve. It's when I miss you most.

Love, Teresa

P.S. You can read the Green Bag Lady dedication to my mom in the lower left column. You can read another blog post about my mom HERE.

WOW! That's a lot of cookies. I have always thought you were AMAZING but now I know where you get it. Wish I had gotten to meet her...
hugs to you and bagette dad! She would be proud, I know it!

Boy does this hit home for me as well...we lost my Dad six years ago and the holidays just are not the same. We always teased him and called him Scrouge...but in reality he was the biggest kid of all. Sure do miss him and so understand how the holidays are hard without our loved ones. Wishing you all the best.
Fondly, Roberta

Miss your mama too! She was a special lady in just the short time i knew her! You look just like her! Never noticed that before! My daddy died at this time of year and he is always on our minds now. Sweet Aunt Frances also just left us. Thinking of you this holiday season. Happy that you are so close to your daddy to keep him strong as well...

I knew I shouldn't have read this, but I couldn't stop reading once I started *wiping tears*. Sometimes, I read stuff like this and it doesn't really get to me. This one though, I felt. You look like your mom :-)

What a wonderful tribute to your mom, Teresa. I wish for you that you could have her back for one day--at least. I know I'm lucky. I'll give both my parents extra big hugs this year.
