Ship's Log Day 3 March 7, 2011

Since I was on the early shift yesterday, I was able to sleep in today until about 8 and then my team was on. We worked until about noon and had lunch. The sea was more calm today than yesterday. I steered the boat for about an hour. While I was at the wheel we went through a very rough patch. It was fun to work the wheel on such seas. Much different than just trying to keep a steady course, it was more work to stay on track. Fun! Imagine steering a crazy water ride at an amusement park.

I am on shift right now too but there are 4 people on my team and 2 have to be on deck at all times. I will go up in about 10 minutes. I made chocolate chip cookies on board today, do you believe that? Despite the fact that the kitchen is smaller than my closet, it is amazing the food that comes out of it! I am told that I am an "easytarian." Apparently, this is a vegetarian that is easy-going about it. They have had some picky/vegan people before that have made things difficult. I'm glad I'm not. I told everyone not to worry about me, I can eat peanut butter or whatever.

I better go get wrapped up for my shift up top. This includes basically a snowsuit, life jacket, safety line and many layers underneath. It is cold out there!

Hope you are all staying warm. Go make cookies and think of me! Teresa
