Let's say you have needles that all over the place. Many shapes and sizes, what do you do?
Grab an old Altoids container or any kind of metal tin or box, some strong magnets and the needles/pins that need wrangling…
Throw the magnets in the tin…
Then throw in your pins/needles…
Done. You have the perfect place to store them AND you can close the lid when not in use. See, I told you this was the easiest DIY ever. It took you 15 seconds didn't it? Carry on. Teresa

Hmmm, I bet that would work for small drill bits too.
Bagette Dad
Great idea and alternative to the old magnetic pin trays my grandma always used.
Nice post with good idea to use old metal box and keeping the articles properly. More over it's time tested solution :)). In case you need a new metal/tin box please visit us.
@Dad--Yes, I'm sure it would! Or little nails, screws, razor blades, etc.
@Grant, Yes, a tray would work great too!
@Harmony, you could put on on your desk for thumbtacks!
