Special Bags

Last week I made 4 bags. I know they don't look very special…

However, they are made with the very last scraps of my mother's stash. When she passed away (nearly 9 years ago) she had a mountain of fabric in her sewing room. At that time, Green Bag Lady didn't exist so most of the material was donated to other charitable causes. My sister, brother and I took the remaining bits and pieces. A few years ago, my brother gave me his portion to use for Green Bag Lady. I made many bags from it, but there were some pieces not big enough and I stuck them in the bottom of a bin. I unearthed them the other day while doing some organizing. Since there are 4 of us siblings, we will each get one. My wedding bouquet was daisy theme so I'll keep that one. The others will be Christmas presents. The photos might look like more than 4 bags but it's the fronts and backs showing the piecing needed to make them. Are you already thinking about Christmas? What are you making? Teresa

These bags are really special. Some things are more precious than gold, some things are expensive for us as memory...
I am sorry for my English. Perhaps, my English is hard to understand...
But these bags are really the best. It's memory, your memory.

There are Cristmas is celebrated more modest than New Year is celebrated in my country (I live in Ukraine).
There are almost everyone celebrate New Year (on the night of 31 December to 1 January) in Ukraine. Celebration of New Year is associated for me with the smell of a mandarin, a beautiful spruce in home and gifts under a spruce... I like celebration of New Year. :)
Before the celebration we will decorate home, windows and a spruce, we will cook different meals for the celebration... We (I and my 6-years daughter) will cut out a "snowflake" from a paper and we will attach it at the window.

Never say your bags are nothing special. Your bags not only help to stop using plastic, but they are used with pleasure because you have a dream and pass it on. You make a huge difference. These four bags are super special, and you and your siblings will love and hang on to them. You did a wonderful thing. Thank you for sharing what you do with everyone. And thank you for always sharing things like photos and such you find. Have a great Holiday season.

I have received a few of your bags in your giveaways and love them. They carry books to my classroom and groceries and other items from stores.
I loved this story- how nice you have some last bits of fabric to create some beautiful bags for your loved ones. I am sure they will be treasured gifts for your siblings.
Regards from Alberta,
Anna

Barbara, that is interesting about New Years. We celebrate it here and it is a big holiday, but not as big at Christmas. I actually LOVE New Years day as it gives me a chance to just hang out and relax!

I also love cutting out snowflakes. I will have to make some and attach them to the window too!
