Little Patchy Bag

A friend of mine is an interior decorator and keeps lots of fabric sample on hand for clients. When the samples are outdated she drops them off with me. It's always fun to go through and peruse the prettiness. Normally, I don't get excited about small pieces as they usually end up as pet bed stuffing. But, this time, there was a neat little book of about 25 waterproof samples. I whipped up a fun bag using almost all of them.
I love the names on the back sides of the samples!
I didn't line up the pieces on purpose. It's too hard for the serger to go over 4 pieces at ones so I offset them slightly.
I even pieced the handles together!
It only took about 25 minutes to make this bag and it's super sturdy (and waterproof!). It was fun to make, but I won't make many of them. 25 minutes a bag is a long time in Green Bag Lady time! :) Teresa

WOW!!! You think 25 minutes is too long to make a bag??? How long does it take you to make one bag? It takes me about 1 hour for each bag. Yikes...:)

Patricia. Well, I can serge the bucket part of a bag in less than a minute and sewing handles on takes about 3 min. But, I usually don't even make bags from start to finish. I serge all the buckets and match them with handles then my ladies come over and iron the tops down, iron the label in and mark where the handles go. Then, the ladies take the bags home to sew the handles on them. SO, I usually don't even do all the sewing on a bag. But, if I do, it's around 5-8 min. :) Keep in mind, I have literally made thousands and thousands of bags. I can practically make them in my sleep!
