When I was little, one of my aunts always made my birthday cakes. She would ask what flavor I wanted and how I wanted it decorated (flowers, princess, etc) but one year it was different. I'm not sure what happened when I was 7 but my aunt decided to go rogue and do her own thing. That year I was presented with a round cake with a cherry tree and a tiny hatchet on top. Um, ya. Not so much what I dreamed of as a 7 year old girl. However, I share a birthday with George Washington and my aunt thought it would be cute to depict the whole "cherry tree chopping/George Washington" story on my cake. To make matters worse, the cake was cherry nut. Again, not the chocolate/vanilla swirl I loved. But, the whole incident does make for an interesting memory!
Since old George and I had our birthdays yesterday, we can continue the celebration with some cherry and berry bags. Let us know you would like one by entering the freebie. Good luck!
