This is SO FANTASTIC! I love it. The meeting of minds, skills and chapters, how cool is that! Keep up the great work ladies, I know that Barbara binds all of you together and will continue to do so. The bags look great and that black vintage sewing machine is lovely! Hugs to you all--Teresa

Hi Teresa--
Update: EDMONDS, WA & SOUTHWEST HARBOR, ME CHAPTERS MEET IN PERSON!!!
It has been 4 years since I was last in Edmonds, WA. To celebrate Earth Day, I had a happy reunion with my fabulous friends in Edmonds. The Washington and Maine GBL Chapters met in person on April 21st to sew and share a delicious potluck lunch in the home of Bagette Linda. The Edmonds, WA GBL Chapter has been making beautiful, lined fabric bags. I was thrilled to learn the technique, and I made my very first lined fabric shopping bag. We exchanged stories of how each of us learned to sew and how we discovered each other through the Green Bag Lady Project.
Our connections: Bagette Barbara introduced friends, Susan and Pam, to GBL.
Bagette Linda discovered GBL at an herb fair where Bagette Susan was handing out bags.
Bagette Kathy, a friend of Susan’s, introduced colleague Bagette Leslie to GBL.
Our stories: Bagettes Susan and Kathy started sewing when they were young. As members of their local 4-H Club in Alaska, they made suits, coats, and clothing. Kathy went on to win awards for her work.
Bagette Leslie’s dad was in the US Air Force and made his own parachute. Wow! Leslie was quite impressed and became inspired to sew. Bagette Linda’s mom taught her to sew, quilt, and craft. Now, Linda has passed on her talents to her 3 daughters, and they work together on projects. Bagette Pam’s mom sewed and passed along her knowledge to Pam. Today, Pam’s favorite GBL task is “No. 1 Presser”. Her ironing skills are first rate! Bagette Barbara learned to sew in school in Home Economics classes, made a tent dress (remember those?) with the aid of her best friend’s mom, and later took a “Quilt in a Day '' class. It took 5 years to complete that quilt. So much for making a quilt in a day!
Then, on April 23rd, I met Bagette Bell at Ivar’s Mukilteo Landing for a delicious seafood lunch. Bell and I made GBL bags together for 4 years on Whidbey Island as co-coordinators of GBL Washington Chapter. When Bell bowed out of the project, the Edmonds, WA Chapter was formed.
The Maine Chapter of GBL is getting ready to make small fabric bags with super cute children’s themed fabric donated by a Maine friend. Stay tuned for an update and photos.
