Mini Ironing Board Cover Tutorial
I have been thinking for a while that I needed to make a new cover for my mini ironing board. The original one was super ugly and had some kind of weird foam padding. Yuck! I knew it wouldn't be difficult as I had already made several large ironing board covers. See tutorial HERE.
I used a piece from my bolt of fabric that I won from Harmony and simply pinned the old cover to the new fabric to use as a pattern…Then I cut around it leaving about 1/2 inch of extra fabric…
I did the same with the icky foam. I had some batting left over from a quilt that was the perfect size…
I picked out some bias tape. I think I had made this the last time I was making ironing board covers! It is out of this Harmony fabric…
I then followed the same instructions that I used for the large covers…
Almost done…
I put the padding on first, then the cover and flipped the whole thing over. It was a lot easier to pull the strings tight when the cover was flat against the table…
That's it! Isn't she pretty??? SOOOO much better than before.
Aaaand, what will become of the old cover and foam? Pet bed stuffing of course.
Sheesh, that is full. I need to make some pet beds! Teresa
Workday Wednesday
I've been a busy girl. Sewing bags (with some of last fabric donation!)…
Working on a tutorial I'll share tomorrow…Making a shade for our guest room, my Mother-in-Law comes on Friday…
Made a couple pet beds…
Getting some borrowed machines set up for the Girl Scout sewing project I mentioned here…
And, making a baby gift for a friend, I still need to hand embroider the name on it…
I also folded a gagillion loads of laundry. How about you? Teresa
Fabulous Fabric Donation
A few months ago a woman named Tara posted on our neighborhood Facebook page that she had a lot of fabric for sale. My friend Erinn copied me on the post and suggested to Tara if she had any extra she might like to donate it to Green Bag Lady. I kinda forgot about it and then Erinn came up with the idea of her Girl Scout troop making bags for Earth Day. I remembered Tara's fabric and thought some of it might be great for the girls to make bags so I contacted her again.
Much to my surprise, Tara still had a ton of fabric left and was willing to give it all to Green Bag Lady. What???? It is soooo beautiful. Most of it is quilting cotton and there are even a few bolts (upper left). WOW! Tara is awesome. Not just for donating fabric, but she was so fun to meet, has a great dog and the prettiest dining room table I've ever seen. :)
I mean, look at all of this…
And, she gave me this huge roll of strapping that is perfect for handles…And, a whole bunch of trim! Maybe there will be some pom pom bags in the future??
I just had to share all this prettiness with you. There will be many future freebies out of this. I've already sewn up some for the Girl Scouts. More on the Girl Scout event later. I can't wait! Thanks again Tara, you are the absolute BEST! Teresa

A Quilt for Harmony
Way back in the fall I got a wonderful fabric donation, lots of really fun quilting weight cotton. Included in the donation were many completed and partially done quilt blocks as well as cut pieces for the same quilt. The pieces were too small for bags and I wasn't quilt sure what to do with them at first. Then, it occurred to me that I should just finish the quilt. Around this same time I happened to be chatting with Harmony on the phone and asked her if she was in need of a new quilt for her bed. She answered with a resounding YES! So, over a period of a couple months I finished the queen size quilt, took it to a longarm quilter here in town and finished off the binding. The backing and trim around the sides is Harmony's own vein fabric. It coordinated beautifully with the rest of the fabric. I had the quilter use a circle pattern and it all turned out so lovely.
The funny part is that after the quilt finally got to Harmony she had forgotten all about our conversation. She was so surprised. How fun! These are the photos of the quilt happily at home in Harmony's bedroom. I hear she likes it. :)
Also, Harmony now owns more quilts that I have made than anyone else:
