Burovik, Bagette Dad is correct, it is the angle of the photo. Our handles are almost always 18 inches. They are not meant to fit over your shoulder, rather to be carried by hand as a regular grocery bag or shopping bag would be. Thanks for asking though!

They are not as short as they look. It is the way they are being held for the picture.
