hugheyryanATyahooDOTCOM. You're an inspiration,my fiance' comes from a family who has been "Green" since the 70's-not mine. She has opened my eyes to all we can do as individuals to inspire individuals to do their part. I used to look at it like someone else will do it so what diff does it make if I don't-unfortunately there are A LOT of the "old me" out there. I'd LOVE to have one of your bags to give to her to say thanks for making me her difference-and thank you Green Bag Lady ;)

My family and I recycle everything we possibly can. I request paper bags when available, but fabric most definitely would be a better solution. I always use the paper bags for my recycling. I would absolutely be honored to be an official "Green Bag Lady" carrier and user. julieborekatyahoodotcom

You are truly doing something amazing!! I was actually looking for cheap fabric bags, when I stumbled over your news video! I am not asking you to send me any of your bags. Just wanting to say keep up the good work! We need more people like you! I usually go shopping and ask the baggers to just put the groceries in the cart, because I keep laundry baskets in the trunk of my car and just put the stuff in there. Faster to bring into the house and no need for bags :)

I just watched the CNN video. My morning news reading brought me across it. We have wanted to use our own bags for quite some time. Thank you for encouraging us on to further this. I am going to use the pattern and help video to make my bags!! I was so excited to see someone doing this. I can only imagine what its like at your house now! All the excitement!! Our family has been working on turning green for the past year. Last year out when cleaning chemicals. I make my own cleaning products from essential oils and other products safe for us and the environment. This week we are going to be making our own dish soap and laundry soap. Now I have a new project when Im done with the soaps!!
Thank you !

P.S. Our sons are working with their homeschooling group on their part in the environment and the catch phrase is "Making the small things global" You have definitely done that here !!! Awesome work !!

Do you need materials? If so, could you post on your blog what materials work best and how we can send those to you?

Way to go! I've been using the same 8 cloth bags for the past 25 years. Stop and Shop (in New England) used to donate a few pennies for each bag saved. Let's see, 8 bags x 52 weeks x $.03 x 25 years = $312.00! That's how much was donated and think of how much plastic wasn't used. Now Stop and Shop gives cents back to the customer for every cloth bag used. I get a lot of satisfaction from my tiny green moments - thank you for yours!

Where can I send fabric to donate for your project?

I got a free sewing machine one summer and I immediately started making my own bags for shopping. They are heavy duty and I use duck cloth. I despise plastic bags and when my wife and I go shopping we always bring a bunch of bags with us. One middle-aged female clerk asked if my bags were L.L. Bean! I'm a 24 year old male so I think she was shocked when I told her I made them. I love to be green and I love my multi-functional homemade bags. Keep up the good work and let's ban plastic bags!!

I actually saw you today on the cable access channel in nashville and love your project. I have been lazy lately about using my fabric/ reusable bags. You have inspired me to make it a focus again and thank you for the tips and patterns. I have a small amount of decorator fabric I didn't know what to do with and now I know. You are making a difference. Thanks

I only have myself to shop for, so a bag like this would be awesome, as all of my stuff would probably fit in one bag! I watched your video and I think this is an AMAZING thing that you are doing..! Thanks for all the hard work and hours you have put in for the environment.

If you pick me to receive one of your bags; I promise to use it! (Purple is my favorite color if you pick me and have one handy!)

Warmest Regards..

Hi Teresa. I just saw you on CNN.
It feels so good to know that some people are doing something real. I started using fabric shopping bags a year ago, and I have just arrived in Ann Arbor-MI, from Indonesia. It is a bit strange for me that people still ask me from time to time why I bother bringing my own bags. It seems only elderly people tend to do that :(

What a great service to others! While I am all in favor of supporting the environment, I love these bags for the sheer reason of not having to manage all the bags in my house. Less stuff to have to "maintain"...use, store, fix, clean, recycle, give away, etc.
I would love to have one of your bright, colorful bags. Thank you!

I saw you on TV. What you are doing is exceptional! My co-workers laugh at me because I try so hard just to recycle all our paper, drinks, everything etc. I am inspired even more by you! i just wish i knew how to sew. I would love to have a bag. My e-mail is Hollihd@mindspringDOTcom. Thank God for a blessing like you!

The video was great and I loved your idea. My husband and I have been using cloth bags for nearly a year now and I even paid for a pattern and had planned to make some for Christmas gifts but alas I have had to put away my sewing machine until after the holidays. My husband is redoing my computer/scrapbooking and quilting room over to make more room! I hope I will make some this winter.
If you have a bag to spare I would surely like it and it would be my very special bag!
God will surely bless you for your love of His earth.

I would love to receive one of your bags! I think what you are doing is amazing. If I had more time to figure out how to work the sewing machine, I'd make some of my own! The overuse and waste of plastic bags disgusts me as I imagine them piling up in landfills. Thanks for doing such a wonderful thing for the earth!
