Remember our camping trip a couple of weeks ago? Well, we discovered one of our air mattresses was leaking like a sieve. Sheesh! We could not find the hole/holes to patch and it seemed like an awful lot of plastic to send to the landfill. I started looking at it and told my husband I thought it could be bags, he agreed.
Here is the before…
I cut the whole thing apart and the sides became handles. Next, I trimmed the plastic connectors off that were part of the interior…And made seven bags (one didn't make the photo)…
They are great! Very sturdy and waterproof. Perfect for the beach, pool or frozen foods at the grocery store. So there you go, anything that can be a bag around this house, becomes a bag! I think the kids have started hiding their clothes from me… Teresa

Thanks Kris! :)
Unexpectedly in an original way!
Wow, how creative! Good work in saving it from the landfill. BTW, I think your kids are very smart. . .
That is such a great idea--and those air mattresses are always dying on me, now I know what to do with the next one!
Thanks for all the sweet comments! I hope you all make bags from your dead mattresses too!
Absolutely cool! Can you provide info on type of thread you used? Any any other helpful information. Thanks.
I just used regular sewing thread and a regular needle. If the vinyl is really thick you may want to use a denim needle though! Thanks for asking.
Lovely upcycling project GBL!
Thanks Harmony! :)
