Glass Beach

While we were in CA, Harmony, the kids and I drove a bit farther north to Glass Beach. I had read about it on line and wanted to go. Harmony warned me that there wasn't much glass anymore as it has been picked over in recent years.

Here is the blurb from Wikipedia: Glass Beach is a beach in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California that is abundant in sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town. More info here.

Harmony was right, there isn't a lot of glass to be found any longer, but there was some and it was fun to look for it.
We were able to find some bits, mostly white…
And some glass and plastic we were not as happy to find…
Can you imagine that this pretty spot used to be a dump?
I can't imagine throwing garbage into the ocean. Harmony and I talked about how funny it is that even if you dump trash into her, the ocean still manages to make treasure out of it. Way to go Mother Earth. Teresa
