I’m still hard at work sewing today. Hoping to get a little run in later and I get veggies from my new CSA today. Yippee! Have a great weekend all! šš❤️❤️šššššš
The veggies are finally coming in here in NM. Just snacked on a cucumber from the garden and I had tomato and cheese earlier. When the tomatoes start coming in, I'm going to have to freeze or can. I only planted 6 plants, but we had about 6 more volunteer plants come up. The zucchini has been good and steady. I don't have a very big garden, but I do love picking green onions, parsley, oregano, cilantro...right when I need them!
Wow how awesome Maria! I can’t have a garden here in my yard as all the deer would think I planted it for them. š I’ve been contemplating doing some things on my deck though. Maybe next year!š
We have a small area fenced in. I did have rabbits eat through several cucumber plants and a bird managed to get inside two of the cages and pull the cucumbers and zucchini up after I put cages on to keep out the rabbits! Herbs do well in pots and would look good on your deck! Of course, a lot of herbs are not attractive to rabbits and deer--sage, thyme and rosemary. They leave those alone. They will eat onions and arugula (although it might have been the quail that ate my early arugula). Rabbits do avoid hopping into pots but anything that trails outside of the pots is fair game from what I can tell. I repurposed some styrofoam coolers (got them from my vet--they get them in with medications every week). I added some premixed stucco to the outside of the coolers, painted them and then used that granite speckle paint on top of that. I am not fooling anyone into thinking they are 100 dollar ceramic, but they are growing flowers just fine! I usually grow lettuce and spinach in pots as the rabbits don't like pots very much. Plus I can move them when it gets hot and keep the greens growing longer.
I grow lavender and an non-edible sage for the bees. They love the sage flowers. The rabbits and deer don't like any sages and they haven't touched the lavender either!
