Pet Beds 102

As many of you know, we have been making pet beds from our scraps for a really long time now. Look how tiny Little Man was in that post! I enjoy making and donating pet beds as a use for all our extra scraps, holey socks, clean rags, etc. But, I have been thinking that it would be nice if the outer layer could come off for easy washing. I finally did it! I got out a bunch of long zippers and thick fabric and made some this way. I have TONS of stuffing (second photo) that needs to go in beds but I've had too many other projects going to make time for this.

The whole thing is pretty simple. I just cut fabric in a square or a rectangle, attached the zipper to one end, turned it right side out, measured cover, made an insert out of plain fabric to stuff with scraps. Once I sewed up the opening in the insert, it was ready to slip into the cover and zip up. Easy peasy! I completed 3 and have one more really big one to make an insert for. Hoping to use up that mountain of scraps in my basement! XOXO--Teresa

How cool! What size are you making the inside bag so it fits good in the zippered bags?
Maybe I actually could bring my scraps to you with the old pillow case I bring to you, already sewn closed instead.
