UPDATE: THE NETHERLANDS, Tilburg

Margriet is an amazing chapter coordinator in Holland. She plans wonderful events and has made some great signage too. I love all the little details she uses. Thanks Margriet! Everything looks great, keep up the wonderful work! HUGS! Teresa
Ha Teresa,

The translation (on the poster above) is : Let us do it, we change the world , one bag at a time

I use this poster by local events, scholarship and open days community center

Last Sunday there was a local event in Tilburg, I was there with the Green Bag Lady in our  design shop (kunstlicht)
and  in 3 other shops en 1 stall we use the same  poster to publicize The Green bag lady in Tilburg. Its going very well, I met there  by chance, two enthusiastic ladys from Texel, that was very nice, they promise me to make pictures from this local event and send it to me. When I have pictures, I send it to you.

National Geographic declared the month of June to the “stop met Plastic” month, they asked people not to buy 6 plastic products : plastic bags , bottles, cups, straws, cotton swabs and cutlery. Every Monday evening the television has a program about this, I like that kind of initiatives.

Greetings

Ha Teresa,

More Germany

My favorite part of the trip to Germany was meeting all the Bagettes. They were all as sweet and wonderful as I imagined they would be, every one of them was absolutely darling.

From left to right: Audrey (Berlin), Marianne (Tilburg), Dieuwertje (Oost-Nederland), me, Ingeborg (Oost-Nederland), Margriet (Tilburg) and Greta (Tilburg). Greta's husband was there too and did an amazing job taking photos and videos for all of us. What a great guy!
And, my friend Alicia (below, middle) who was one of my Bagettes in Nashville came too! She lives in Holland now and showed up a bit later so was not in the photo above. It was SO great to see her and connect her to some of the Holland Bagettes.
Look at this great tote that Marianne made! She used scraps and did hand embroidery around them. I just love it and may need to make something similar.
She also gave me these great dutch fabric bags. Adorable!
She puts little tags on the bags she makes so she can identify them if she sees people carrying them, great idea!
She also upcycles lanyards as handles, even keeping the clip intact to use for attaching keys, etc, Love this idea!
I gave one of the bags to Alicia and she is using it already! I also gave Alicia one of the bags I made out of Amy Butler fabric to use for all her shopping.
Ingeborg made me this groovy tie dye bag, what's not to love?

And some Dutch cheese to put inside it! Yum!
Margriet gave me this cool sandwich roll. Just throw in washer or wipe clean! From here.
And, Alicia knows about my obsession with tiny bowls and brought me this Dutch beauty. She is now hanging out in my closet holding jewelry in the company of other tiny bowls. :)
All in all, such a great trip meeting so many amazing people. I heart you all! Teresa

UPDATE: THE NETHERLANDS, Tilburg Chapter

Good morning,

I have received the 600 labels(etiket), already a week ago,  thank you,
the same evening (a week ago) came a Green bag lady to my house for new labels, just on time,

We have finished 21 september our 1000ste bag, we celebrated  that all together in october or november, with a treat from a pastry shop of my organization. Recently I received a donation for the bags and so I have some money for the treat. We make now all beautiful sturdy bags from upholstery fabrics we get from a upholstery factory.

The students of our fashion academy going to participate The Green bag ladys, in the month october they have a pop up store and there they want to give 10 different workshops (the whole month) about sustainable textile and one of them is the Green bag lady workshop.
They also want to make bags by themselves, I give them tomorrow 100 Green bag lady labels. They are very enthusiastic.

During open days by the local shops, I meet people from other cities or even other countries
who are interested in sustainable product. That's nice.

I send you some photos of bags made by (mental handicapped) people of de Pannenschuur Oisterwijk Nederland, they are very proud to participated this project en to make a real usable product. If you want you can put some  photo’s on Facebook and maybe write that this is the work of Green Bag ladies from Pannenschuur Oisterwijk Nederland.

Our group is still groing, now I have even a canadian woman who wants to  participate our group. I have to speak english more and more, the American woman study dutch language but unfortunately the other woman does not.

And this month there was an article of Green Bag lady in our staff newspaper(about 5000 members) and there are  many reactions on this article. Maybe I can send you this article. And now the newspaper of the clients have also asked for an article of the Green bag lady.
