Mother's Day + Vintage Freebie!

I'm always hesitant to cut any of the vintage fabric in my life, you too? I'm never quite sure what to do with it. I love to look at it and the funky color combos but when it come to actually making anything, I'm at a loss. I wish I was one of those women that could cut it up into a cute skirt and run around town. Not happening. We all know I am a jeans girl at best. My favorite days are spent entirely in yoga pants. Let's be honest, comfy is the way to go.

Soooo, enter the dresser drawers and bins on the shelf in my sewing room. Two drawers and two bins are stuffed with vintage pieces. Just hanging out. I have made some quilts out of it (seen herehere, here and here) and will undoubtably make more. Maybe this summer? In the meantime, there are some of the fabrics that I can't imagine in a quilt. Either they are too thick (canvas or denim) or not what I'm looking for in a color scheme.

What to do? Make bags. Surprised, aren't you? I can tell by the way your mouth dropped open in disbelief. Anyway, have 12 fun ones to give away…

A small portion of the vintage fabric mountain taking over my sewing room…
Sewn into fun bags for you!
There is a catch though. In order to get one of these bags you have to be a mom OR give it to YOUR mom. Got it? You can enter yourself and say you are keeping it (and you deserve it) because all us moms deserve a pretty vintage bag that reminds us of easier times in our lives (like the 70s) OR you can enter to win one for YOUR mom. She will love it, trust me.

Go ahead, enter:

•LEAVE A COMMENT, IN THE COMMENT LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THIS FORMAT: name(at)something(dot)com it is important to spell out DOT and AT so you don't get spam, if you DO NOT leave an email address, you will not be entered in the freebie.

•In your comment tell us who will get the bag if you win! (I'd keep mine since my mom is in heaven!) We will ship it directly to your mom if you like. We will even put a little note in it for you. :)

•TWELVE lucky moms will win vintage bags!

•DEADLINE FOR THE FREEBIE IS 10pm(CST) Monday, May 14, 2012. (winners will be posted here and notified by email no later than May 15)

Don't forget to leave us your email!

Many thanks to Bagette April who helped put my vintage stash over the top at the last Threadfest! Good luck everybody! Teresa

Hope you all had a great Mother´s Day!

I love the vintage fabrics!! They make me happy and put a smile on my face. Although making a skirt is not a bad idea. Think I am going to try that too.

I would love to win one of your bags for myself. Like yours, my mom is in heaven, but she would appreciate your bags and your cause. Like many of her generation, she never wasted anything or threw away anything useful. When she sewed something for herself, I (or my dolls) got something made with the remnants. Unwearable clothing was never thrown away either - buttons, zippers or other useful parts were saved and re-used. I still save all my remnants for other projects too.

Happy Mother's Day to moms everywhere!

These are fantastic! I'd love to keep it for myself as I feel I deserve it after yesterday's mother's day with two overtired and cranky kids. However, the guilt would consume me, so I will give it to my mom, who just happens to be the best mom in the world and has spent many mother's days with FOUR overtired and cranky kids!

I love your fabric bags. I would keep it, until my daughter visits toward the end of June. She always needs a bag to take stuff home in (like treasures her boys found on the beach, or a lunch for the road). When I visit them, I find a need to "borrow" my bag back. The only one we don't share is the one she uses to return library books every week. gbs88(at)yahoo(dot)

I love vintage and I love totes! I have started making my own but as I found with our Mother's Day, girls only, camp trip over the weekend you can never have too many. Plus super cute vintage ones are great for summer fun!

Depending on the fabric I'd keep for me or give to mom...if I keep it I'll make one for.

How wonderful! I can relate, my stash is taking over! I may keep the bag because I'm a mom or I may give it to my mom. I guess it depends if its my colors or hers. Thanks for the giveaway!
