Everyone--
Green Bag Lady is in need of fabric. If you have some sitting around that you would like to donate, please leave a comment here and give me a way to get in contact with you. We are trying to make many bags for the events in Texas and here in Nashville.
Please let me know! Thanks for all your support!

New Sponsor--Name Maker!

The labels that are in all the Green Bag Lady bags have come from the fabulous company, Name Maker. Name Maker has just donated additional labels to the project. I couldn't be more thrilled with their kindness!
Check them out here. Along with a variety of labels, they have personalized ribbon, and iron on name tags so your kids don't lose their clothes!
Thanks Name Maker for your generosity! Green Bag Lady Teresa
Birthday. . .FREEBIE!

Guess how old I am today? Can you guess? Hmmm. . .this is what a couple of friends did to my yard today.
My whole intention on this post was to make some really cute birthday gift wrap bags and do a freebie with them. So, pretend that there is a great photo of some wonderful birthday gift wrap bags for you to win.
Leave a nice comment on this post for your chance to win a birthday gift wrap bag (I promise they are cut out, just not sewn. . .yet). Since I have never done this FREEBIE, any and all of you are eligible to win. Remember to leave your email address spelling out AT and DOT to not get overspammed!
Last day/time to leave a comment is March 1, 2009 midnight CST.
Maybe it is one of your birthdays today too?? If so, best wishes to you. Thanks for reading. Teresa
In the Tennessean today. . .

There is an article in the Tennessean Life section today called, "Slumbering economy awakens human spirit." One of the things about this economic downturn is that people are being more green. This is not intentional for many, but it is still good for the environment.
If you are here in Tennessee, check it out. If you would like to read the story on line, go here. The article includes an interview about the Green Bag Lady project. The Green Bag Lady portion begins on page 3. I hope you will take some time to check it out.
Have a wonderful day! Oh, did I mention it might be a certain someone's birthday today too? I will post a birthday FREEBIE later on today after I can get some photos taken.
The best to all of you--Teresa
Massachusetts Bags!

Hi Teresa,
Thank you for Your great bags! My daughters and I took them with us everywhere: to the stores, the mall, and the library!

Tennessee Bag Lady!

Hi. My name is Mary Reneau, I'm from Byrdstown, TN. My mom is Connie
Colley from South Carolina. She has told me about your site and I have
started making a few bags. I have made 5 large bags and 5 smaller bags. My
daughter claimed the first one and my husband and mother-in-law claimed
the 2nd and 3rd. But I'm waitiong for a machine my mom bought me and I
will get busy. Attached is a picture of a few I have done.
New Jersey Winner!

Hi Teresa!
I was one of the lucky ones chosen to win 2 produce bags for the "Apples. . .FREEBIE!" contest. I received them last week and have already put them to good use. I absolutely love them.
I'm hoping to make some bags of my own eventually but I have to go out and buy myself a sewing machine first. Keep doing what you do; you're such an inspiration.
Thanks again! ~Tracie from New Jersey

A special bag for a special person. . .
Hi Teresa,
I want to say thanks for you and your Dad choosing me to be one of the lucky people to receive one of your special green bags. As promised here is a picture of me using your bag. I was so very happy and excited on the day I received it. It came just in time for my second chemotherapy session. So here it is all loaded up with my essentials. Again much thanks to you and to all involved in this great quest.
Oh I now also only use reusable water bottles also. So everyone stop wasting money and harming the environment by buying those bottles filled with water. Try Liv Pure fit & fresh water bottles. They have a water filter that fits inside the bottle and is reusable up to 500 refills. You can replace the filter when you need a new one. The bottle cost $9.99 and comes with the first filter in it. The bottle holds 20oz of water.
But again thanks to Teresa and Dad--Zaji
In case you thought we were slacking. . .

Just in case you were under the impression that production of bags has slowed down, I thought I would prove otherwise. The photo at the top is serged handles waiting to be trimmed. The next photo is of serged bags waiting to be paired with handles. The third photo are the handles that will be paired with those bags. The fourth photo is of bags waiting for the events in April and May. There are 24 bags in each of those bags. 450 in all.
The events we have coming up are big and we have been sewing our little hearts out to prepare for them. We will be at the Live Green Expo in Plano, TX on April 18. Info here.
We will also be at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts here in Nashville in May. Keep checking the site for detailed information on that event.
We would love for you to attend these events, get a bag and say hello!
Have a wonderful weekend! Teresa
South Carolina Bag Lady III!

Wow, I got the produce bags today. Thank you so much. Here is a picture of them in action and a picture of the bags I made today. I'm out of fabric now, used all I had, but many people say they will give me more. I'm not going to give up. It is such a gooooooood feeling to know that for every bag that I sew and give away, that is one less pastic bag that will go into the earth.
Thank you for showing us the way.

Thank you Connie for your continued efforts in sewing and giving bags, it is just wonderful. SO, does anyone out there have some fabric they would be willing to give to Connie??? Leave a comment here with your email and I will get you and Connie in touch with one another.
Have a great day everyone. Teresa

Thank you so much. Keep spreading the word.

It would be so easy. . .

It would be so easy. . .
•to not pay attention to what I throw away.
•to not recycle.
•to just use plastic and paper when I shop.
•to forget about my refillable water bottle and drink bottled water.
•to buy whatever I want and not think about its environmental impact.
•to let my kids eat junk.
•to buy non-organic, cheaper food.
•to not compost.
•to just not care.
We all have choices. I choose to care. I choose to provide a better planet and future for those three little ones pictured above. I hope you will too, for your own reasons, of course!
Have a lovely weekend and get out and enjoy this planet we are fighting for. Green Bag lady Teresa
Argentina Bag!

Hi!
Yesterday morning I received my bag! You are so kind, and you really do hard work to save the planet. I live in a big country, I travel a lot and I feel so sad when I can see the beautiful landscapes ruined by plastics bags and the rivers full of plastic bottles.
I promisse to use my green bag and sew a lot of fabric bags and give them to my friends.
Regards,
Adriana

Fabulous Fabric!

Hey Teresa,
Here is a photo of the suit I made from your lovely fabric for the Nashville Shakespeare Festival's production of Richard the Third. Actors are Jessejames Locorriere and R. Alex Murray.
Thanks so much,
June

Way back in May, 2008, June Kingsbury of Junebug Designs contacted me to ask if I could use some fabric. She had heard about the Green Bag Lady project from a friend. I gladly accepted, went to her house and got a few bags of lovely yardage to work with. A few months ago, June showed up at my office with another large bag of fabric. I could not resist showing her the bolts I had just picked up from Lane. She instantly fell in love with a brown and black plaid among the stash and asked if she could have a sample and possibly a few yards to make a costume for the pictured production. I didn't think Lane would mind!
Isn't it lovely? Isn't it wonderful how something as simple as FABRIC can bring people together? June is really fabulous. So is Lane. But, you already know that.
Thanks for reading. Off to sew a bag or two, or ten, or more. There are some brown and black plaid ones in my stack waiting for stitches.
