Ever since I started the Green Bag Lady project over a year and half ago, I have wanted to do an event at a grocery store. I finally got my wish today at Whole Foods. We had a great time giving out over 200 bags. The people were wonderful and we had the most picturesque background of any event we have ever had! Thanks Whole Foods!

My wonderful helpers for today were Bagette Alicia, Bagette April, Bagette Margaux (my oldest daughter), Bagette Dad and Bagette Kathleen. What would I do without them??

Look at this cute family and all their reusable bags. . .
A peek inside their cart, what nice bags!
I hope you all had an amazing Halloween. I'll post some photos from that tomorrow. Teresa

Mod Green Pod

Look what I got in the mail today. Isn't it gorgeous? It's organic too. The wonderful Nancy Mims of Mod Green Pod sent it our way to make bags. I have to tell you, it is taking every ounce of my will power not grab this fabric, run home and whip out a few bags. I can't wait. I know the ladies on Sunday will love it too. I will post more photos of bags made out of it soon! While you are over visiting the Mod Green Pod site, check out the Room Creator, you can put any of her fabrics into the room, even the CAT! I love it! Nancy is one my new favorite people.
What are you going to be for Halloween? I will have photos up after Saturday. Also, if you are in Nashville, don't forget to join us this Saturday at the Whole Foods in Green Hills. We have 200 bags to give away for their 2nd year anniversary! Teresa
PS, Freebie below ends tomorrow! Get your kids a bag. ALL kids will get one! Leave a comment!

Farmers' Market Today!
We are happy to report that 266 bags found new homes at the Nashville Farmers' Market today! We were cold but warm in spirit! Thank you to the Bagettes that were there! You are all more fabulous than words!
We even try to coordinate bags with outfits. . .
Bagettes Kathleen, Karen, Dad, Connie and April. I heart all of you! :)

Sometimes the crowd was so thick, I couldn't see the table!
True story, I had that sweater as a kid. I promise. I looked through 2 photo albums today to find the photo of me with that sweater on and I couldn't locate it. I was SO hoping to include it in this post. Shoot!
A big thanks to Jeff and Jolie from the Farmers' Market for letting us invade today. We had a great time! Teresa

Off to Sweden. . .

A wonderful man contacted me this week about an event he was coordinating in Sweden about eco-friendly fashion. He found out about Green Bag Lady and requested one bag to show others to spread the word. I thought we could spare 12. I am thrilled that these bags will find their ways into the hands of government officials, Swedish media, marketing directors and individuals from the World Wildlife Fund. Have a great Gala Dejan, we will look forward to some photos!
All of you have a great weekend! Teresa

Late Today. . .
I was almost late to meet the bagettes today because of this. . .
The motorcycle parade went on for over 10 minutes. I am not kidding. Police escort and all. You can watch the 3 minutes I filmed here. I found out after the fact, this was the event I happened upon. The riders were raising money for the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I don't mind being late. . .
Don't forget the enter the FREEBIE below! Only 3 days left. Teresa

Scotland Bag!

Hi, Teresa, this bag was photographed in St. Andrews Scotland on September 21. Michael Melia is starting his freshman year at the University of St. Andrews. His mother Deborah is in the photo with him. I got the bag for him at the Belcourt Theatre last summer.

Nice article. . .
Two years ago, as part of the Republic Day celebrations organised by their Residents' Welfare Association – Uthkarsh - Trupti and her neighbour Sarita Kotagiri listened to the invitee speaker P Venkatramanan of RISE (a resident association in Indiranagar) talk about the menace and danger of using plastic bags. Shocked to hear that on an average, people use 15-20 plastic bags every day, they immediately pledged not to accept plastic bags. For the last two and half years both of them have refused every single plastic bag offered to them!
Sarita, Trupti and Suresh Kumar of Uthkarsh have managed to include the issue in the mandate of their LB Shastri Nagar RWA, and drive the anti plastic campaign along with other members of Uthkarsh. LB Shastri Nagar is situated near HAL Main Gate. A door-to-door campaign, poster making competition for children are only some of the initiatives undertaken by them to increase awareness.
However, the journey has not been smooth all the way. People were initially cynical and indifferent. Some felt it would not make a difference. Others made fun of them. A few of them said cloth bags were costly and may not be possible if shopping was unplanned. But this team remained persistent and undeterred. They believe they can see a change in the attitude of at least some people around them. Earlier, even shop keepers in the locality were reluctant to put up posters about the cloth bags. Now they are gradually agreeing to stock the cloth bags.
On Republic Day this year, Trupti and her friends decided to take the campaign one step further. They encouraged many other residents to take a similar pledge. Trupti says she learnt how to stitch simple bags at home after watching Green Bag Lady's How to Make A Bag. They then printed a message on these cloth bags and displayed them at the event. Many people came forward, some even donating money, to support the campaign.
This is just a portion of the text, to read the whole article, click here.

The Daily Ocean
Sara Bayles of Santa Monica, CA has committed to picking up trash on the same stretch of beach for 365 days. Check out her blog where she is documenting how many pounds she accumulates. I would love to help clean up the ocean. Since I do not live by one, I thought I would make things easier for Sara by making some bags for her effort. . .

And, here is Sara's neighbor and her new Green Bag Lady bag. Enjoy!
