Very cool bags!
These are so cool, I had to share. I could afford the first one, but the suit tote, I will be digging in hubby's closet for an old suit and make my own, who's with me??
Recycled Street Banner Bags--$19
Look closer. These aren't your run-of-the-mill nylon shopping totes. These cool, modern bags are created out of street banners taken from Seoul and made by an eco-friendly non-profit shop in South Korea that specializes in creating one of a kind hand-crafted goods out of generally castoff objects. Instead of going to the dump, the banners are re-purposed into beautiful and durable bags with wonderful typography and splashes of colors. Each bag is one-of-a-kind in the world! No two are alike in color, stitching, or material origin. We can't possibly show all the images of all the bags, but trust us, the bags are wonderfully fresh with cool type and great colors. You'll be thrilled to receive a bag that no one else has in the world.

Scott - Recycled Suit Tote--$250
Named after Janet Poketo's dad, this 100% recycled tote includes neatly stitched leather handles (also created from recycled leather couches), and a convenient pocket inside to carry many of your daily essentials. You can rest assured that each tote was given personal TLC by an artist who carefully “tailored” the bags, giving the clothing a second chance at life. This rather eccentric and unconventional bag enriches the range of what can be done with recycled material and creates a bold new look with a glance to the past and a strong vision into the future. Another ingenious creation by Korean non-profit design shop, Eco Party Mearry, these bags will turn heads and help our planet in the process. One of a kind.

L.A. Events. . .
We had 2 remote Green Bag Lady events in L.A. The first one I talked about in this post where the wonderful Marisa stepped in and saved the day by recording all the bag information for us. . .thanks again Marisa, the event looks like so much fun. . .

We sent 75 more bags than was needed at the above event so Heidi Luerra of RAW kept them and handed them out at an Earth Day event called Earth and Art. . .I guess they were a big hit and both events. Thanks for helping us spread the word Heidi! Teresa

Ohio Bag Lady!
Hello Bagette Dad!
A few months ago, I won bag #7598 and a 'kit' to make another bag. Well I took it one step further, and used the Green Bag Lady template to make 7 bags as a thank you to some awesome volunteers who help me at the non-profit I work for. The pink bag was made with the fabric you sent. I made one change to the pattern -- lengthening the straps by 6" -- so the strap fabric you sent for that bag is now decorating the top of the bag itself.
Thanks again for my bag (blue with yellow straps) and for giving me this idea for a great thank you gift!

Sewing Room Redo. . .AFTER!
Rug and curtains are from Urban Outfitters. . .
I didn't redo the whole dresser, just painted the top and the fronts of the drawers yellow and put on new knobs (from the clearance bin at Anthropologie).
The kids now have their own table with their OWN machine. They have been sewing up a storm since it was finished!
Felt and button letters I made for the wall over my sergers. . .
These birds out of Harmony Art organic fabric are also over the sergers. . .
Framed bulletin board, I already had and you can see it in the before photos. I took it apart and recovered it with some Amy Butler fabric. . .
Peg boards from Meijer, cute jars are Liberty of London for Target. . .
Thread jars from WalMart. . .
I covered an old computer desk with oil cloth (stuck with strong carpet tape), I had the white, the orange I ordered from Oil Cloth Addict. . .
Here is the quilt (it hangs over the bed) I said I was going to make with the fabric from this post. . .
Here is the refinished little table, I used some of the extra orange oil cloth to keep the machine from scratching the paint. There is also a piece of it under the television on the dresser. The boxes to the right are also Liberty of London for Target. . .
Drawer detail. . .
I estimate the total for this project was about $400. I already had all the furniture and the paint. Yes, I do understand that it is obnoxious to have 5 sewing machines in one person's craft room. However, do you KNOW how much I sew??? I have light thread in one of the sergers and dark in the other. The machine on the upper shelf is an embroidery one. And, the one for the girls I got at Overstock.com for only $144, and I LOVE it. So do the girls. My Elna machines are just too expensive for them to "play" with. :) What do you think of my new room? Country Music Marathon, Nashville
Teresa,
My daughter and her friends visited this weekend to run in the Nashville Country Music Marathon and completed the half marathon 13 miles. Always proud of them. And happy to say they are all enthusiastic supporters of Green Bag Lady.

China Bag!
Teresa,
As you can see, your bag is put to good use here in China! As you probably heard, they abandoned disposable plastic shopping bags here, so most people use a non-woven, Tyvek-like bags, most of which have ads on them. The one from you looks so much nicer and has been practical to boot!
This is the local supermarket. They are on every street, since most people like to shop almost daily and may not want to go far for groceries. I go there every other day or so, more for walking exercise than to buy anything.
Big hug! Yu Xin sends love!
Sam
